Nonviolence USA:
Index to Historical Sources
in Theory and Practice
Note: Beginning in November 2003
Nonviolence USA has been experimenting with new portal
technologies. Please go to the latest updates at peacefile.org .
Background: NonviolenceUSA, a web
resource for scholarship in the theory and practice of
nonviolence in America, has been online since Fall 2000.
Dedicated to Alice & Staughton Lynd (see Z magazine interview.) Also see the
bibliography.
In August of 2001 NVUSA opened the
Global pages in response to Middle East escalations. On
Sept. 13, 2001, NVUSA began an extensive collection of
9/11 links, including the web's earliest research on the
"oil war" thesis, posted on this site and distributed via
email on Sept. 25, 2001.
Below is a list of links to resources
that help tell the story of peacemakers and movements in
the USA, roughly in chronological order, followed by some
links to contemporary peace organizations, publications,
and collections.
To the left is a menu of topics with
additional resources collected here. NVUSA sends periodic
bulletins via email with notice of updated collections.
To subscribe, email gmoses@lycos.com. Also please send
comments or suggestions.
