Academic Calendar

 The Marist academic calendar includes two fifteen week fall and spring semesters, a three week winter intersession, and a twelve week summer school.

An accelerated weekend format for adult students in the Fishkill and Goshen extension centers offers four ten-week sessions a year.

Classes are offered twice a week on weekdays, once a week in the evenings, and every weekend at the extension centers.

FALL 1998
AUGUST 29 Saturday Freshmen and new transfer students arrive on campus according to schedule.
30 Sunday Returning resident students arrive on campus according to schedule. Orientation for New Students.
31 Monday FALL 1998 SEMESTER BEGINS FOR ALL PROGRAMS.
Day & Evening Classes begin; Late Registration.
SEPTEMBER 31-4 Monday-Friday Course Change Period. (31 Aug 1998 to 4 September 1998)
4 Friday Last date for course changes.
Half tuition refund after this date.
7 Monday Labor Day Holiday; No Day or Evening classes held.
18 Friday No tuition refund after this date.
25 Friday Undergraduate graduation applications due in Registrar's Office for 1/99 candidates.
OCTOBER 5 Monday P/NC Option due.
9-15 Friday-Thursday Midterm exam week.
15 ThursdayResidence Halls close at 6:30 P.M.
Evening classes will be held.
16-18 Friday-Sunday Mid-Semester break.
18 Sunday Residence Halls reopen at 10:00 A.M.
19 Monday Midterm grades due by 10:00 A.M.
26 Monday Last date for dropping course without penalty of WF grade.
30 Friday Undergraduate graduation applications due in Registrar's Office for 5/99 candidates.
NOVEMBER 25 WednesdayDay classes held; No Evening classes.
Residence Halls close at 6:30 P.M.
26-29 Thursday-Sunday Thanksgiving Holiday; No classes held.
29 Sunday Residence Halls reopen on Sunday at 10:00 A.M.
30 Monday Classes resume.
DECEMBER 11 Friday Last day of Fall 1998 classes.
12 Saturday READING DAY.
14-19 Monday-Saturday *Final Exam Period.
19 Saturday Students required to vacate residence halls immediately after last exam.
20-22 Sunday-Tuesday *Final Exam Make-up Days in case of inclement weather.
28 Monday Final grades due by 10:00 A.M.
* Final Exams are held through 12/19. Exams may be rescheduled during exam week due to inclement weather. Travel plans should be arranged accordingly.

WINTER INTERSESSION 1999
JANUARY 2 Saturday Day & Evening classes begin.
18 Monday Holiday (Snow make-up day for Winter Intersession if needed)
20 Wednesday Last day of classes.
22 Friday Final grades for Winter Session due by noon.
SPRING 1999
JANUARY 20 Wednesday Residence Halls open at 10:00 A.M.
21 Thursday Spring Semester begins; Day & Evening classes held.
21-27 Thursday-Wednesday Course Change Period.
22 Friday Last date for incompletes & grade changes for Fall 1998.
27 Wednesday Last date for course changes; Half tuition refund after this date.
FEBRUARY 5 FridayDeadlines for grade changes & resolving incompletes for Winter '99.
10 Wednesday No tuition refund after this date.
26 Friday Last day for reporting P/NC option.
MARCH 6-12 Saturday-Friday Midterm exam week.

16 Tuesday Midterm grades due by 10:00 A.M.

APRIL 1 Thursday Day classes held; No evening classes.
Residence Halls close at 6:30 P.M.
2-4 Friday-Sunday Easter Observance; No classes held.
5 Monday No Day classes held; Classes resume with Evening classes. Residence Halls reopen at 10:00 A.M.
MAY 7 Friday Last day of Classes.
8 Saturday READING DAY.
MAY 10-15 Monday-Saturday Final Exam Period; Saturday exams will be scheduled.
17 Monday Senior Final grades due by 10:00 A.M.
22 Saturday FIFTY THIRD COMMENCEMENT.
24 Monday Final grades due by 10:00 A.M.
JUNE 18 Friday Last date for grade changes & resolving incompletes for Spring 1999.
